puppy angel
okay, it's been a long time since i've blogged, i know, but i trust that this might be a good one to read.
so i'm in Monterey for the holidays, and before we have folks over for our annual New Year's gathering, my dad and i take Maddy for a bath at this wash-a-pet place. she is really good and never struggles to get out of the tub or anything, the sweetheart that she is.
we hear a man and his daughter bring their dog in about 5 minutes after we get there, but because of the configuration of the place, we can't see what kind of dog it is or what the people look like. we hear the dog whining a bit and the father just yells at this poor pup. as a matter of fact, he wasn't speaking too nicely to his daughter, either, and from her voice and seeing her later, i'm guessing she was 6 or 7 at the oldest. but, the point of my story isn't that i really didn't like how this man treated his daughter or the dog.
from what i can tell, the dog's name is "puppy angel". at first i thought he was referring to his dog as a puppy, then a little angel. but then i heard "puppy angel, sit!" "puppy angel, stay!" "puppy angel, no!" finally, when we were paying for Maddy's bath, the dad, daughter, and puppy angel emerged. no, not a little chihuahua or teeny dog. a big ol' overweight chocolate lab. i'm guessing that the daughter named the dog years ago.
Gouda and i can't get over this dog's name. poor thing is probably the source of much laughter amongst its canine friends.

OMG, that is godawful.
(I have to admit I was a little worried about Maddy's health when I read the title of this post! Glad she's doing just fine and is so good in the tub. Unlike my Lucy, who thinks baths are things to be strenuously avoided.)
