how are there not more accidents?

just in the span of driving home today, i was left wondering how it is that, thankfully, more accidents don't occur every day. and then i was relieved to get home unscathed.

example 1: the dude who crossed all 4 lanes of Mission St. at rush hour to pull into the McDonald's parking lot. hey, i like me my McD's too, but this was a ridiculous move. thank you, MiddleHonda brakes, and thank you, kind Toyota driver behind me for not tailgating.

example 2: the crazy man? woman? (sometimes in santa cruz, you can't really tell even after a close look) who ran a red light to turn into the 7-11 on the corner of Broadway and Ocean - again, a ridiculously busy intersection. hrmmm, there's a theme here...

example 3: just seconds after the 7-11 move, i crossed Ocean St. and this time encountered the "best" of the three incidents. a young-ish woman in a very dirty white Honda (i feel bad for her car) pulls a three point turn in the middle of the street. not just any street - a busy street that has cars streaming in both directions. she cut off people in both directions by first pulling into the street, then stopped both directions by performing her three point magic. to make this even more ridiculous, she's got a cigarette hanging out of the window and a cell phone glued to her ear.

i'm not leaving the house tonight!

Comments:
she could do what my co-worker does...an emergency brake u-turn. in rain. on castro street in MV.
