hoorayS!
yesterday had much awesomeness.
i actually left my desk, left my lab, and heck, even left campus for lunch! went with a friend who is celebrating her birthday today. happy 3-0, and welcome to the club, buddy!
as if that weren't enough excitement for me, i left work (early!) and headed over the hill to meet up with friends for dinner. you know who you are, and y'all rock. even if one of you is healing a bad back.
strapped on my skates for the first time in 7+ months and it was such an awesome feeling. the hardest part was actually tightening my skates as much as i wanted to because that wasn't a good feeling for my shoulder. but once that was over, it was all Val. she did great - skated around with different members of her posse each lap, smiled, and made me smile the whole night. photos and vids to come.
Liz alluded to how proud she was last night. i was pretty damn proud, too! as proud as cows are to be cows - i was way more proud of Val last night.
i have always heard "bend your knees!" whenever i skate. i know i need to. i've tried to, and when i think i'm bending them, i look down and my legs are straight. bah! so, last night, thanks to my road roomie, i tried to really bend my knees and holy cow! it works! i think i went faster!
another "it works!" moment came from Ellaine - when turning, lead with shoulder. it works!
i don't think i've ever been so excited for a conditioning session in my entire ncwhl life!

It is going to be SO GREAT to see you on the ice again, finally.
I have always thought that you were the one NCWHL skater that looks like an NHL skater when you skate. Something in how you move your hips.
Me, I stand up straight. (working on it!)
