triops!
this has been a fun quarter in lab - our rotation student likes lots of the same music as me and is a huge sports fan (mostly baseball and basketball), so we have plenty to talk about. yeah, the science, too.
he had a tea-bag like thing incubating in a beaker with water for a while - i finally asked him what it was a couple of weeks ago. he said it was water for triops - which i've never grown before. lo and behold, we noticed two little guys late last week and they've grown substantially since then. i'm going to try to document their growth over time - they supposedly grow to be over an inch long.
this is what they looked like this afternoon.
soon we'll have to find a bigger beaker for them!
