where did all these travel plans come from?
i'm not much of a traveler - not because i don't like seeing new places, but more because i'm comfortable with my surroundings and am not that adventurous. in my life thus far, i've been to these places:
- Japan (with my family when i was 9)
- Hawaii (family vacation and several later visits to see Nicole and Joe)
- East coast of the US (with family)
- these cities, because of baseball: Arlington TX, Chicago, Milwaukee, Cleveland, Detroit, Toronto.
certainly not a lack of travel in my life, but relative to some of my friends, it's a paltry list. i've added an annual trip to Vegas for hockey.
this year, i hope to add Vancouver as a hockey destination. i am also in the midst of planning my first European trip - to Italy! my friends Cindy, Nicole, and i have known each other since middle school. Cindy is living in Padua now - taking classes, tutoring students in English - and Nicole and i are going to take advantage of a built-in tour guide and visit in March. it's coming up so fast i can't believe it!
since my Vegas trip was canceled and i need to use my airline credit before November, i might also be heading down to SoCal later this summer/fall to visit Todd, Amy, and Ollie. thank goodness for the generous vacation time UC gives its employees!
okay, off to do more research on hotels in Venice and Florence!
