generic v. brand name
i'm normally not too much into labels, at least clothes-wise. i wear what's comfy.
for some reason i usually go with a brand-name product when it comes to health-related items: band-aids, cough drops, aspirin, etc. i must have been on more of a saving spree than normal when i was at costco and got the generic ibuprofen. i figured eh, it's ibuprofen, right?
well, i've been taking 400mg of that generic stuff 2x a day for weeks now and it hasn't helped my shoulder much. i saw the doc on monday and he told me to try Aleve. i was going to shun his advice and continue with my generic stuff, but since i'm determined to hit the ice sooner rather than later, i tried the Aleve.
i'm on day 3 of 2xAleve (440mg) 2x a day and so far, knock on wood, so good. is it the extra 40 mg that makes a difference? is it that Aleve has some better active component than the generic ibuprofen? either way, i'll take it. however, this difference intrigues me and since i'd rather not do the test on myself by going back to the generic, i ask if you folks - all zero of you - have any experience with this.
3 cheers for Aleve!

Aleve or Advil?
Aleve is not the same as ibuprofen, but Advil is, and is usually dosed the same generic or not.
Aleve is naproxen sodium which acts differently than ibuprofen, and is longer acting.

a-ha! thank you for answering my question! i suppose i could have looked at the labels to see if they had the same active ingredients, but why do that when Snarfdog can answer my questions for me? :-)
