whaaa happened?

riddle me this, readers. why is it called hump day? i mean, i understand that, in theory, you've hit the high part of the work week and it's all "downhill" and cruising from there. but, that sort of implies that the weekend might be a down time. down time is good, but often "down" has a negative connotation.

so why not call it dip day? the rock bottom part of the work week is over, and it's all uphill and positive heading into the weekend.

i know, it's a weak argument, but it's something i was thinking of while i was meeting with administrative sorts at work. end result: i'm not sure i have can make a strong case for dip day and i have lots of random paperwork to add to my list of things to do at work. who knew that working in a lab as a researcher came with so much paper shuffling? i'm not complaining, per se, just intrigued.
