grrrrrrrr...
bah! so i waited over 3 weeks to call my doctor (while he & staff were on vacation) to schedule my surgery. called this morning at 9, left a message. called again at 2, left another message. received a call at 3 from the medical assistant, who has the scheduling power. she asked when i wanted surgery, i said ASAP.
her: "and what body part"?
me: uh, shoulder.
her: "spell your last name for me".
okay. i do so, thinking why doesn't she have the chart in front of her when she calls a patient?
her: "and daytime phone number where you can be reached?"
me: "the one you just dialed." (i repeat it for her)
her: "what's the surgery for?"
me: "impingment/rotator cuff"
me to myself: should i tell her i can wait while she goes to get the chart?
her: "and when would you like the surgery?"
me: "still, ASAP. are there certain days when he does surgeries?"
her: "it'll probably be a thursday."
me: "great, that sounds fine."
her: "okay, i'll have to talk with the doctor and see when we can get you scheduled."
me: "do you have a general idea when he will be free? september? october?" come on, throw
me a bone here.
her: "i will talk with the doctor and will call you back,"
me: "you can't give me any idea as to which month he might be free?"
her: "i will talk with the doctor and will call you back."
okay, a couple of things made me rawr here:

okay, a couple of things made me rawr here:
- call me crazy, but since i left my name, DOB, phone numbers, etc with the receptionist, i had moved along with the assumption that the assistant would have already seen this information before calling me.
- wasn't the point of me calling her to actually schedule the damn surgery? i didn't need confirmation from her that my doctor was still performing surgeries.
- (or 2b.) why did she even bother calling me back? all she did was get me initially excited that i'd have a date set, then make me rawr because i had the most pointless conversation with her.

that's like entering in all your info for the phone tree and then have you repeat it all when you get a real live person(tm).
i gnash my teeth with you. =/
