whaaa happened?

it was my dad's birthday this past weekend, so i headed down to monterey on friday evening and Justin came down on saturday.

i actually spent friday night with my friend Cindy, who i've known since middle school (way too many years to count!) she's leaving to return to Italy later this week where she'll take some classes and work on her writing, so i'm glad i got to see her while she was in town. we met for dinner downtown in Monterey and to my surprise, another friend was there. i hadn't seen her since graduation, i think...again, i stop counting after i run out of fingers. we had a wonderful dinner and then strolled around downtown, grabbed some dessert, and observed that downtown Monterey is much busier on a friday night than it was in our heyday. not like we would have partaken in the club atmosphere had it existed back then, but it was an interesting observation.

Maddy got a bath in the backyard on saturday. she wasn't thrilled with it, but like our other dogs, she does enjoy the drying-off process. we bbq'd for dinner and it was nice - just the 4 of us. we enjoyed some cake that friends had brought over earlier on and had a relatively quiet night.

my cousin and his family came late on sunday afternoon, so J and i hung around in Monterey so we could see them. we had a quick dinner, played with the kids, then headed back to santa cruz.

should be a relatively relaxing night tonight - we are working on an anniversary gift for the folks, but that's about it. wheeee!
