the weekend that was

friday: last day of "class" at stanford - it was a great class and i'm so glad i got to go. i learned so so so much and can't wait to apply it. at first i wasn't sure if i'd be excited about shifting to this particular research aspect for my job, but now i'm genuinely looking forward to it.

capped off a long week by catching a showing of "The Simpsons" movie friday night. highly, highly recommended. i haven't been watching the show at all the past 5+ years but the movie seemed to get back to more of the old style of the show. Ralphie had one of the all-time lines (yes, even for Ralph) and it was a good time.

saturday: puttered around the house and went to get my haircut. yeah, i decided to go super short. partly for a change, partly because depending on which type of surgery i end up needing for my shoulder, i might only have one hand to wash my hair for a while. the haircut is, well, let's just say that i'm still adjusting to it. the wet look is better than dry, and i need to figure out how to "sculpt" it. i'll probably keep asking Lucinda for tips. :-)

went to LoTech to Burninate vs. Black List. it was a fun game and surprise, surprise, i tangled with Marci a few times. darnit, she's figured out that all she has to do is make me laugh and then it's all over.

came back to santa cruz and headed down the street to see 1/3 of the Vinyl Trees play. not so big on the scene where it was held, but cool music with lots of covers (though, still no Tragically Hip covers!) in addition to some from Pura Vida.

sunday: this was the last of 9 consecutive days over the hill (10 trips total). headed up to the Giants game that i've been looking forward to since March - the 1987 team reunion. it was great. beautiful day, my favorite players back in the park...too bad the game had to start. ;-) made it to belmont in plenty of time for my game with Are Too! and Steph, our super-sub. i was super excited that Kim had me and Steph on the same line...feels like ages since we'd skated together! the team played really well and we won 4-2. a good way to go out if it turns out that was my last game of the season. i finally got to meet Cody, who is just a bundle of love. soooo sweet, that little guy.

went to visit Paulus after the game with Andrea and Val, Jennie and Graham, Gouda, and Lucinda. was a fun time...and after dinner, i took the opportunity to play with Cody some more.

finally got home and realized i still have to wait another week before i can schedule surgery. bah! me impatient! (hopefully not inpatient). okay, sorry, that was bad.

apologies, apologies.

narf.

Comments:
but that trip poke was funny...if only you could have stayed up ... you'd have been one-on-goalie. Can't wait for the next version, we'll probably have entirely different folks on our bench.

holy crap, yes the trip poke was funny. that's why i fell over!!!

don't think it would've been one-on-goalie for long...i was hearing footsteps, and they were coming fast!
