woo, good weekend!

i suppose my weekend got started a little bit early...the Sharks' practice schedule came out on wednesday but i didn't notice it until thursday morning. Justin and i decided it was more than worthwhile to take part of friday off to check out the practice and scrimmage at Lo-Tech. i got to sleep in an extra 20 minutes and then we headed over the hill. it was great seeing "my boys" again. we split the hour of practice between teams A and B, then stuck around for the scrimmage. i was excited to see Lukas Kaspar because i'd read a lot about him but had never seen him play. he looked good - nice shot, quick release, fast skater, seemed to play 2 ways. it'll take me a little while to get used to new jersey numbers for some of the guys - i kept wondering how Alyn McCauley got so big, until i remembered that he was gone and Christian Ehrhoff had switched to #10!

Justin and i made token appearances at work on friday afternoon. :-) i was actually pretty productive for the amount of time i spent there. i headed back over the hill that evening for the red eval session in fremont. i hadn't been so excited to skate since i came back from the GAB. it was only 2 weeks we had off, maybe a bit more, but it felt like it had been forever. so, it was fun skating around, seeing people i hadn't seen for a few weeks, and seeing red hopefuls that i hadn't seen for longer. lots of people tried out this season and i kept thinking that i'm glad i wasn't trying out with them, because they would have made the cut and i wouldn't! anyhow, lots of my buddies looked great, and i'm hoping for the best for them. just before the ice was ready, i saw McJedi heading down the hall and she gave me mono! seriously! i've got to say that having never had mono before, it's much much cuter than i expected. ;-) thanks, H! oooh, and i got to see Snarfdog for the first time in what feels like forever! okay, maybe not forever - that's how long it's been since i've seen Viv. but yay, it was so great to see you, Susan! me miss you!

i went down to Monterey on saturday morning and took my car in for an oil change. i had a coupon to use at the dealership where i got the car, so i took it in there. they reminded me that i was due for a major service, and since i didn't know when else i'd schedule it and they could do it that day, i went ahead with it. d'oh. fortunately, i don't need new brake pads yet, but that'll be soon. still cost me a good chunk of change for the service and it made my coupon look rather measley in the end, but it's good to know that big Toyota is in good shape. (warning: tangent. i often feel guilty about driving such a big car, but given the frequency with which i drive over hwy 17, especially in the winter time, i do feel much safer in it, and i'll take the guilt and extra expense for peace of mind. i often miss Little Honda, but know that she's doing a good job around town for my parents. end tangent)

i took a nice long nap in the afternoon, woke up when Maddy kissed my face, then watched her the rest of the evening/night when my folks went up to SJ for a concert. i spent at least half of the time just staring at Madds, asking her why it was that she was so cute and sweet, and how it was that we were so lucky to be her family. part of the rest of the time, i was performing dog toy surgery (will try to post pictures soon). the patient is doing fine and after a night of rest, was back to being squeaked this evening.

picked up my car this morning, repotted some plants, did a little bit of yard work, played with Madds, did some random other things, then headed back up to fremont for the final red eval session. my legs were still sore from friday night's practice (yep, time off will do that!) and saw even more people who were returning - woo! for Shadow and Lauren!!!! :-D

grabbed some dinner at hot pot city and talked to Nicole on the way home. i'm still pissed for her, and i worry for anyone named glynnis that i meet in the near future. grrrrrrr. (no, Nic, i'm still not over it!) ;-)

that brings me to now, and now is me getting ready to watch the last episodes of "house" from season 1.

Comments:
no shit, i was thinking the same, that i was glad i moved up when i did because the red hopefuls looked really good and i woulda never made it.
