caught!
i had the pleasure of experiencing one of those southwest "wanna get away" moments the other day and keep forgetting to mention it.
so i'm standing in front of the sink in the bathroom at work, minding my own business while washing my hands after taking care of my own bidness. this is when a white hair decided to shout out at me and become totally obvious. i dry my hands and attempt to pluck the invader. (it's been done several times before, but i forget about it after each plucking - at least until the reappearance). problem is, i've got no fingernails and it's only about 2 inches long.
i finally get a good grip on the thing when the bathroom door opens and in walks a friend of mine (thank goodness i know her decently well!) i freeze, and in that frozen moment i see myself in the mirror. i've scrunched up my nose while squinting to focus on the white hair. my left hand is holding the surrounding hair down while my right hand is hovering above my head with a death grip on the white hair. my mouth is wide open, because apparently it's impossible for me to look in the mirror and focus on something without opening my mouth.
it felt like i was frozen there for 5 minutes, when in reality it wasn't even 5 seconds. probably not even 2, but it felt like forever. my friend just smiled, i said "plucking a white hair", and she said "be sure to get the follicle".
in retrospect, i guess it wasn't that big of a deal. and one white hair? not a big deal, but why do you have to grow right where i can see you? how about in the back of my head! oh well. that was my exciting moment at work last week.

Ha! I haven't seen you in a while, so until I do again, the image I have of you in my mind is going to be of you at the mirror, nose scrunched, mouth open, pulling at a hair on your noggin. :-D
