whaaa happened?

i honestly didn't think i'd be able to fall in love with another dog so fast after losing Molly. after all, Molly was my first puppy, my girl, my pal, my buddy. Maddy came to us and after 2 minutes i was a pile of mush every time i looked at her. okay, after 1 minute.

i went to monterey on saturday and hung out with the folks, played a lot with Maddy. i had gotten a new toy for her and was curious to see if she'd like it. it's funny because none of our other dogs liked chew toys. they were obsessed with tennis balls, but didn't look twice at other toys. we discovered that Maddy loves her pineapple, so i figured i'd give some other squeaky chew toys a whirl.

once i stepped in the front door, i put down the bag with her "puppy" so i could give my mom a hug and then properly shower Maddy with love. she had already sniffed out her toy, so i cut off the tags and gave it to her - she gently grabbed it and ran to her bed. she found the squeakers right away and proceeded to squeak for about 30 minutes straight. we played fetch with her puppy lots of times, and she even took it to bed with her. she was squeaking it first thing in the morning on sunday, too. my mom reports that if she says "Maddy, where's your puppy?" that she'll faithfully go retrieve her friend.
