back in black red
well, the time has come. i've got to say that i was a hell of a lot more excited the first time i made it to red in the ncwhl.
don't get me wrong - i'm happy to be in red now and am looking forward to the season with my new teammates, many of whom i'm already friends with and have played with before.
yeah, here's the "but". but, i was really excited the first time. i think i called my brother right away, then re-read the email that said "welcome to red". i might actually still have that somewhere. this time is different. i can't really put a finger on the "why", either. i know that part of it is i'll miss playing with my buddies who remain in green. i think i really enjoyed the past season for the carefree nature of most everyone who was in the division. sure, it's always great to win, but the point of the whole thing is to have fun, and oh we had some good times. maybe i'm also a bit apprehensive because i know that being in red will push me to get better, and there is a part of me that thinks "hmm, maybe i've topped out". not at a very high level, but hit a plateau nonetheless. i also fear change. this is a change.
i'll try to focus on positives. it was my goal to get back to red after the GAB, and i did. i want to have a good time skating with my friends, and i will. i'll probably have opportunities to sub for other teams since the benches aren't ginormous like they were last season. some of the greenies will most likely sub up, too...wheee!
regarding change, i'm glad that i have so many good friends who will, undoubtedly, help me realize that this is a good change.
ya know, just in the time i've spent sitting here typing this, i already feel better about things. it's good to be in red! now, if only i can find out if jersey #22 is available and i can trade in #23...
:-D

no one had #22 last season...doesn't mean it's not taken, but doesn't mean it's not NOT taken...yeah.
i don't like change either, even though every change i've resisted turned out to be a Good Thing(tm).
to continue the school analogy, we're going from 8th grade to being a lowly freshman.
hell, we have fun wherever we go, so once the season starts, we'll be fine. that said, i'm glad we're moving up together. who else would understand when i holler, YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMADAAAAA? =)
