mmmm, turkey!

had a great Thanksgiving and extended weekend. Justin and i headed to Monterey on wednesday night and the traffic wasn't bad at all. i know, there's only so much road between here and Monterey, but still, it can bottleneck near Moss Landing and it didn't. woohoo!

i did lots of sleeping during the long weekend. some sleeping to catch up on sleep, some due to allergy tiredness, and some just because i like sleeping. it was awesome. not awesome like meeting the US women's hockey team awesome, but similar. sort of. not really.

my mom didn't let me help much with the food preparation. our meal was awesome - the turkey was huge (mmmm, leftovers!) and turned out great. lots of stuffing and of course, cranberry sauce. oh, and don't forget the rice. call me weird more weird than you already know, but i love cranberry sauce over rice. it does a good job of making most people cringe, but for me it's just lovely.

did some around-the-house things, too. Justin helped my dad surround the water shutoff valves with wooden, gopher-proofed boxes while i cleaned the gutters and played with our neighbor's dog, Annie. my mom and i planted some tulip bulbs (of course, surrounded by chicken wire to deter the gophers) and i hope they'll bloom all right. if they do, they'll look gorgeous where we planted them.

overall, a very relaxing weekend filled with good food and great company. i'm looking forward to the week between Christmas and New Year's when i plan on doing a whole lot of nothing in Monterey.

Ooh, cranberry sauce over rice sounds good to me, actually. As does lots of sleeping. Now I have a plan for next year!
