whaaa happened?

many of you know that i get very involved with my favorite sports teams - the Giants and Sharks. i'm not superstitious in the traditional sense (broken mirrors, black cats, etc) but am very superstitious when it comes to following sports. i've been known to sit in one position to preserve a shutout, or in the most extreme case, i sat in one position during a Sharks playoff game that went into friggin' double OT. i didn't even allow myself to move during commercials or intermission - why ruin the juju?

so yes, i am a certifiably nutzO fan.

and i'll admit it, i'm also a bad sport. this year's baseball playoffs are a prime example. i wanted the Red Sox to win - they had the least offensive (not in terms of hitting, but they offended me the least) team and there was the whole boston connection with Justin. that and i just didn't like any of the other playoff teams. once the Sox lost in the first round, i decided that quite simply, there was to be no World Series champion this season. sure, they'll play the rest of the games but nobody gets a trophy, no rings...nothing.

maybe i'm just bitter because the Sox won last year for the first time in 86 years. should the White Sox win this year, it will be their first title in 88 years AND it will leave the Cubs and Giants as the two teams with the longest winless streak. that just pisses me off.

i don't want the Chisox to win mainly because of their catcher. can't stand him. or their former closer. they are both ex-Giants and imho, just don't deserve to be champions. i am glad the Angels are out because 1) they are from SoCal, and 2) they beat the Giants in 2002. i should be a good fan and root for the national league team, but i just can't do it. mostly because i'm bitter.

i think what i need to do is not hold grudges against players for so long. i mean, really, they have no idea how i dislike them, so why get myself all riled up? i guess that's part of being a fan. i'll always be a Giants and Sharks fan, so i suppose i should just accept that i'm going to hold grudges and be a bad sport.

hopefully my bad sportsmanship doesn't carry over into my hockey playing, because that would just be very sad.
