what to do?

what do you do when you finish playing a fun hockey game, then see that someone playing on a nearby rink has collapsed and later passed away?

unfortunately, that's what i was faced with on saturday. i hope that just by being there i was able to extend some comfort to his teammates, though i highly doubt they even noticed what was going on off of the ice. i can't even imagine the range of emotions that are going on for them and this man's family right now.

these are the things in life that happen every day. not necessarily in the way i witnessed it saturday, but all over the world there is heartbreak for someone at any given moment. i hate to think that i ever take my family and friends for granted. i know that ever since my dad was diagnosed with mantle cell lymphoma, i've been more aware of telling my loved ones how much they mean to me. it's been almost 2 1/2 years since then, and saturday's events brought me back to a heightened state of awareness of the fragility of life.

Comments:
what do you do? you hug your friends and family and thank god for everything in your life.

Or just giggle. A lot.
