red/green challenge
i can't remember if the ncwhl does this at the end of every season or not, but we had an ice slot tonight for a challenge between the green division (mine) and the red division (ranks just above green). i do remember that there was one of these challenges in one of my first seasons but i was too petrified to even think of playing in it.
i did play tonight, and i'm glad i did. i think it helped that i've been in the league for a while now and i have friends that play in red. it was good to see them because i rarely do anymore.
my attitude going into the game was pretty carefree. yeah, i wanted us to do well, but i looked at it as more of an opportunity to see how we match up and wooo, more ice time! it was a lot of fun to play with everyone in green instead of against them.
i'm proud of how us greenies did - we lost 4-2 but we held our own. Andrea got us an early lead with a great shot from the slot. red came roaring back and then took the lead. i found myself playing against Marci for much of the night - wow, is she tough to get by! it was fun being on the ice with the likes of her, Doris, Jean, Susi, et al. and Kevin (who kindly acted as our ref). my personal highlight was scoring our second goal. i was skating down the right side and had a D with me - as i got closer to the net i got a shot off. Claire (goalie) blocked it but the rebound came back out and fortunatley i had my stick on the ice and followed my shot. i managed to squeak by the D and put the rebound in. it was nice to finally get one against a goalie as opposed to a skater acting as goalie.
made me realize that things happen if you put the puck on the net. and crash the net. and keep your stick on the ice.
must remember these things for saturday!

And you're hard to chase! ;-)
Nest time I'll refrain from throwing myself into the boards and will give you a better test.
nice shot btw

Sorry 'bout that. I had to figure out what exactly the "pop" meant before I popped back up. Knee is cranky but still works.
