fun-filled saturday
heh, i just realized that the word "turd" is in "saturday".
i am so immature.
anyhow, i went to my first ncwhl picnic on saturday. for one reason or another, i haven't been able to make the past two. it was held at this pretty nice park in sunnyvale and Red and company did a great job bbqing the tasty eats. thanks, Red! the turnout was pretty good, i think - maybe around 45 people.
i had a good time hanging out with people i usually don't see much anymore. and oh, were there 4-legged friends. it was awesome. i got to meet some new dogs (like Lucy - see below, Tasha, Kaili, and Corey's buddy Miss Trouble). i had my fill of puppy playing and rather than filling the dog void in my life, it made me want one all the more. guess i'll really have to push the 'rents to get one since i can't have one at my place.
there was one dog, Lucy, who reminded me so much of Ollie. her coloring matched Ollie's perfectly, and she even had some freckles like his. she was very cute and very prancy. i'll post a side-by-side comparison of the 2 dogs sometime.
i headed over to inline sports with Viv and Ellaine (and Emmitt!) to see the most bizarre combination ever: a store with patio furniture (not to be confused with Patty O'Furniture) and hockey stuff. mostly patio furniture, but it's called inline sports. hrmmm. continuing my neverending quest for a new helmet, i was disappointed to find that they didn't have any ccm 1052s. they had some 852s but they were all large and white. back to online shopping for me.
Liz and Andrea met up with us at the store, but before they did Ellaine asked me if i'd climb inside this ginormous hockey bag. me, inside a bag? sure, why not. Viv has the pictures somewhere - it was rather amusing. and there was room to spare, too! pretty comfy, too.
the 5 of us (minus bag) headed to grab some grub and then i went to Ice Oasis with Viv. it was my first time there and it was pretty nice! i didn't partake in the food upstairs since i had just eaten, but i can see why it's so popular. i sat with Susi and Viv for a bit and watched the end of a women's game. Susi went to get ready for her game, so then Viv and i sat with Carolyn/bluepoof. my first time meeting her - she's so rad...nice to meet ya, Carolyn! i got to watch Steph play and oooh, ooooh, oooh! i also got to see Red in net for the first time. he got pretty bored during the game because there wasn't much action down in his end, but he looked great on the shots he did face. waytogo, Red!
i watched some of the 2nd game (with Viv, Liz, and Andrea) but then took off for our playoff game at LoTech. we played really, really well. i actually had some pretty good chances in front but as usual couldn't put the puck in. it was scoreless after regulation and Liz said "okay, let's go win this in the first 30 seconds". well, Mike complied! woooo, we win! awesome job, AT2!
