yet another 3-day weekend

i am loving these 3 days weekends i've been having but i think this was the last one for a while. it was a busy one, too!

went to Target on friday night, got an answering machine and a lot of unnecessary but fun things like DVDs: The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy, and season 1 of Aqua Teen Hunger Force. i already had season 2 of ATHF but when i got that they were out of season 1. well, if i have season 2, i've got to have season 1, right? :-)

ran up here to lab on saturday morning because i woke up with a panic at 2:30 thinking i hadn't set the weekend lineups for my fantasy baseball team and since i don't yet have my internet connection at home, i came to work. also did a very teeny amount of work, but it turns out i already had set the lineups. oh well, it got me out of bed.

went to (my boss) Dave's house that afternoon for a going-away bbq for Georgia, who is off to grad school at UC Davis - in the neuroscience program. i went over a bit early to help Sofie (Dave's wife) set up and get everything ready. oh, and i got to see the kids, too. they were giggly and ridiculously cute. the bbq was great. a good showing of people, lots of tasty food, and Georgia seemed to enjoy her gift from us: sketch pads, charcoal pencils, watercolor pencils, and a pair of soccer shorts. Axel and his folks dropped by for a bit and i didn't know if he'd remember me because i hadn't seen him for a few weeks. i went up to him and he did his "i know you and i'm going to be shy and hide" thing, then a few minutes later he came running up to me shouting "jena jena jena jena jenaaaaa!" it was awesome. and, his shorts were too big for him, so they kept sagging. nothing like the cutest little kid showing some diaper!

sunday was filled with driving and spending money. went with TQ to sears in capitola to get a microwave, then to ikea on palo alto to get many things. we ended up filling her truck with: a dining room table (which has leaves that make it a great gnip gnop table - thanks Liz for getting that stuck in my head instead of ping pong), chair for the living room, footstool for the living room which i also like to use as a sittingstool, lamp for the living room, little table for the living room, message board that ended up in the dining room/phone area, and desk chair for TQ. i also came away with more random stuff that i didn't need but hey, i'll have fun with it.
after ikea, we went over to home depot so i could get a stepstool. huzzah for short people like me.

managed to get all of the above items into TQ's truck and then we headed up to belmont for a game vs. Lucinda and Jan's squads. we ended up with 8 skaters on our team so there was lots of ice time. played 4 on 4 which is always fine for me at belmont. let me just tell you, Andrea was totally en fuego. 5, count 'em 5 goals. and not just sloppy rebounds, we're talking good shot goals. i finally feel like i did some things right in this game, though i do need to remember to be patient with the puck. don't just dump it in and chase it, try to make a move. don't just wing a pass to nobody, take the time to look up and make a good pass. i had a blast playing up with Andrea, who may have found her calling as a winger. i shall call her my ringer winger. :-) went to get 'za with Liz and the ringer winger after the game, then made it back home and assembled all of our furniture. hey, guess what? no missing pieces!

drove to monterey on monday and TQ drove her truck down. had lunch with the 'rents - my dad threw some burgers on the Q and as always it was good to see them. my dad seems a bit tired these days but i'm hoping it's an allergy. well, not wanting him to have an allergy, but hoping it's an allergy rather than low red counts. anyhow, i brought a couch, futon, and 1/2 of an entertainment center thingy back to santa cruz. thank you, 'rents - da loot looks great!

back at work now and my timer is calling...

beep...beep...beep...

Comments:
So here's what I was expecting to read:

"ran up here to lab on saturday morning because i woke up with a panic at 2:30 thinking i hadn't"

... fed the mice
... given the mice their toys ;)
... freed tux from the freezer

Fantasy baseball. Ha!

haha, en fuego! fire! fire! that's because i had a great center, duh! =D

heh, i thought the same as viv..."woke up in a panic that i hadn't...:"
- closed the lid on that virus i was studying
- closed the cage door and billions of genetically altered killer mousies were running amuck
- taken the mouse off the ride on the centrifuge. "we thought it'd be funny."

lmao at ATHF...meatwad gets the ladies, see?

oooooh, centrifuge rides! that'd be cool!

and toys for mice! i'll have to go shopping...

yesh, meatwad rocks.
