gettin' my skate on
went to LoTech last night and go to see the new rink - looks noice!
met Viv, Andrea, Liz, and Ellaine there while Tiffani, Georgia, and G's friend Sylvia came with me. it was pretty fun - there was this guy there who was skating for the first time in a couple of years and he was nervous. kinda cute, too! i told him he'd be fine, and he stepped onto the ice and he was more than fine. he was doing backwards crossovers, nice stops on both sides, drills for edges, etc. he's going to play pickup tonight and i hope it goes well for him. super friendly guy, dangit, i shoulda gotten a number!
an hour into the public skate, the "voice from above" said that it was time to switch directions from counterclockwise to clockwise. i immediately cursed him because i can't crossover in that direction. turned out to be a good thing because i did manage to work up the courage to try crossovers going clockwise and i actually did a few. who knows what my form was like or if i really crossed over *all the way* but it felt good. woot!
next goal: stop on my left side.

i KNOW!! it was amazing. some of the kids remained in the middle, doing their thing.
the twirlies complied for the most part, but this voice from above was incredible. the rink nazi: would tell people not to sit on the player benches, to keep moving...i'll have to dedicate a post for it. :-)
