whaaa happened?

it feels like the end of the world is near...impending doom...lack of communication...yes, i will be without DSL for about 2 weeks while SBC changes the billing responsibility.

i'm still unclear as to why it takes 2 weeks to do this, but from what i've been told, SBC officially has to disconnect and then reconnect the DSL. i guess there are some FCC regulations guiding this, but i'm still totally baffled that it will take 2 weeks, maybe more. several kind folks at SBC have told me that it's because of how the computer systems are set up - they need to first disconnect the telephone service we have, then i have to call a few days later to have that reconnected. then the call goes in for them to activate the DSL again but it doesn't immediately go to that department. whatever. i'll feel completly helpless without internet access at home. dialup doesn't count and i probably won't even bother with it. hopefully i'll spend many nights being productive around the house instead of wishing i could be checking on my fantasy baseball team.

thank goodness for work! i might even have to come up here at night just to check on random things.
