woo, 3 day weekend!
spent some of friday night at the gym and then the rest of the night watching the Giants lose. oh, and i got to spend it in my room because i was avoiding my housemate's father, who was back in town (i wasn't warned that he'd be back staying at our place) and since i can't stand him, i hid. that's me, the ostrich. tell me when it's over and i'll bring my head out of the sand.
went to the Giants game on saturday - my first of the year. got to see them lose in person. yay. but even though they lost i had fun. just being at the park is always good, even though Peter the friendly usher switched sections on me and i didn't get to say hi to him.
drove to Monterey on saturday night, slept in on sunday before getting up to do some weeding and other random tasks around the yard with my mom. listened to and then watched the Giants lose. again. we watched "National Treasure" on saturday night. if you haven't seen it yet, don't bother. there were parts that were entertaining but i spent a significant amount of time just making fun of the plot, if you can call it that.
slept in again on monday and then mowed some of the front lawn and some of the backyard. no flying objects, thank goodness. my mom and i then scrubbed the patio bricks in the backyard with the hope that it would remove some of the nastiness from them. lots of algae/dirt/funk had built up over the years and especially this past winter with all of the rain. so lots of scrubbing and then more scrubbing. it helped a bit but now there are these black spots on the bricks that won't come off no matter what. and we tried a lot: scrubbing with water, 409, tilex soap and scum, tilex mildew, mr clean, comet, bon ami, zap, and even a steam cleaner. i guess we're just going to be left with pinkish brick that has black cheetah spots. either that or turn each brick over...ugh.
left to get back to santa cruz and then went off to hockey. the traffic from monterey to sc wasn't bad at all. but from sc to san jose was AWFUL - it took me 90 minutes to get to logitech when it usually takes me 40. ugh. made it to the rink in time to get dressed for the game but i missed warmups. there were tons of folks who showed up for our game so we had 4 wing pairs - long rests! i managed to make my rest even longer by taking a penalty. not even a good one - too many men. weak. idiot! we lost 3-2 but oh well, maybe next time. took me a while to get to sleep and then i had to get up a bit earlier for a doctor's appt. this morning. so tired now!
at least the sun is out and i think i still get to visit Axel tonight. woooo!
