the weekend
talked to Todd on friday since it was his birthday - didn't have a long conversation but it was good to hear his voice. and i'm so excited to see him, Amy, and Rawls next month!
saw Revenge of the Sith on friday night and was actually pleased. well, aside from the fact that Hayden Christensen was in it, but that couldn't be helped after casting him in the first 2 episodes. some of the dialogue was very corny but it was toned down compared to others. Yoda apparently responded to Stroke 9's "kick some ass" by saying "i do, i do" because kick some ass he did, yes! i think more than anything i'm just glad the movie is out and i have seen it. chapter closed. i know i'll watch star wars and the empire strikes back many more times in my life, and i will probably see this one again at some point.
went to lab for a bit on saturday and had more to do (always more to do!) but since it was amazingly gorgeous outside i decided to leave work and go home. i walked around the neighborhood a bit, read a book (The Lovely Bones) outside, inside, then back outside again. went to bed early and read.
sunday was a hockey doubleheader day. game 1 was AT2 just past noon. i was a bit nervous because the last coed game i played close to that time was at the Tank, the day of the G.A.B. but i came out relatively unscathed, save for a slash to my right ankle. oh, and we won! we won! we won! i got to play on a line with Mike and G which was awesome. i was amazed (still am) at how much better i feel when i'm playing with people who are so much better than me. they make me better by default! it was great playing with G again. she just buzzes around and always seems to be in the right place at the right time. i need to work on that.
game 2 at belmont ended up being a 4-on-4 game which, at belmont, i'm fine with. since we were short on D i volunteered to play - why do i do this to myself? i had a blast playing with Andrea and i think we played well together. then, midway through the game, another skater showed up for our team and instead of having her skate up, we went to 5 D. so that was a bit awkward but whatever. i didn't play as well as i could have or should have. i tried to run the puck up a bit when i was out with some folks but knew to hang back more when others were out there. it was a bit frustrating seeing tons of open space in the slot knowing i wasn't there, but i know that i learned a lot watching from the perspective of the blue line. should we be short on D the next game, you bet i'll volunteer to go out there. i definitely won't try to make a habit of it, but hey, if it gets me on the ice, i'll play D!
