softball, photoshop, and mmmm, coke with lime

first, the softball: we (the isotopes) played our last game of the intramural season this afternoon and actually won! yes, it's a rare occurance. let's face it, the members of the 'topes are biology grad students and the occasional lab technician. we are older than most other teams (composed of undergrads) and unlike most other teams, we play to have fun, not just to win.

but today was fun - we played a team that had lots of people we knew - bioinformatics grad students + others. they were fun to mess around with, didn't take things too seriously, and didn't act like assholes. i think because i am cautious about not wanting to mess up my ankle by running around on a pothole ridden grass field, i compensated and managed to tweak my quad. not too bad but enough to be annoying. i'm hoping (and pretty sure) i'll be fine in time for monday's hockey game. i think i ended up with 2 or 3 hits, a few rbis, and a couple of runs scored. and we won! :-D

now the photoshop: spent the majority of the day at work sorting through slides and pictures of slides for figures that we're working on. my boss is going up to UCSF tomorrow to meet with our collaborators and we wanted to have the best and most recent data to show them. so far it looks like we're building a nice story and i think the results we have back it up pretty well. i know it will be a while before this manuscript is submitted but it's nice to know it's in the works. my boss even told me that there's a chance i could be a co-first author on this paper! woot!

mmmm, coke. with lime. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
