damn this fretting
went to UCSF yesterday with the folks for my dad's checkup with the miracle doctor. no biopsy this time, just blood tests. rbc and wbc counts look good, platelets are a bit low but that is a normal thing post-BMT. the doc is a little perplexed by the fatigue, but had some suggestions and we'll follow up with them. overall, things are looking all right. the study is closed at 79 patients nationwide. so far around 12 (or 15?) patients have reached 2 years post-BMT, and 70% of them are in complete remission. i hope my dad will be part of the majority when he reaches 2 years at the end of October.
in other news, i feel like crap. sore throat and foggy head. could be an allergy, could be a cold. sigh.
but compared to other happenings, my little bug is of no significance whatsoever. Nic's mother-in-law (Diane) was flown from Maui to Oahu on sunday but the doctors there now say they can't do the hip replacement surgery, i guess because of the effects of the myeloma and lack of actual hip bone. so she's either headed for UCLA or UCSF. i hope it's UCSF because then i can see her and try to be of some use. but wherever she goes, i hope it's soon.
so between worrying about my dad, worrying about my friend and Diane and Joe (Nic's husband), this stupid bug that i've got right now, i'm just not in a good mood. not a bad mood, but tired and sluggish. hopefully i'll be going home a bit early today.
