still a freaking idiot
considering i almost broke my "good" ankle twice yesterday, i think i still qualify as a "freaking idiot". yeah, yeah, i know, i'm always an idiot. but now i'm a freaking idiot!
near-gab2005-incident #1: i am quickly trying to move from one end of my lab bench to another. the push-off of my left ankle feels fine, but i with my right foot on the wheel of a chair, which doesn't roll away but instead stays in place as my right ankle collapses and i'm looking at the sole of my right shoe. fortunately, i guess, my right ankle is floppy, so it didn't even hurt. *knock on wood* just made me break out into a cold sweat for a minute.
near-gab2005-incident #2: i'm walking downstairs (without a limp!) to go sign up to use the cryostat. i land on the 3rd floor with my right foot, and for no reason at all, the floppy ankle gives way. once again the right side of my foot is flat on the ground and the sole of my shoe is perpendicular to the ground. basically, the distal end of my fibula is as close to the ground as it's ever going to get. hopefully, it never get's closer! a bit of a twinge makes me panic again, but then i realize i heard no pops, cracks, or snaps. twinge is gone, ankle is fine.
phew!

doh! that's scary! don't know about you but i now notice EVERYTHING that could possibly make me slip.
your near-GAB episodes remind me of the time i was making a u-turn on my motorcycle and almost ran over my own left foot as i duckwalked/pushed my bike around. i had dragged my foot, so the top was facing down and the sole facing up but hit the throttle and the rear tire caught my foot.
for a second, i thought i was going to run my own self over!
