ping! ... pong...
went to work for a bit on saturday morning to tend to some small things, then went to In 'N Out with Tiffani. mmmmm, burger! the whole reason i went over the hill to San Jose in the first place was to drop off some hockey gear at Power Play so that Clean Solutions could pick it up. in total, i think this is what i dropped off: 2 sets of shin guards, 2 sets of gloves, shoulder pads, elbow pads, and pants. it felt really weird to leave my bag and gear with someone i don't know. hope you're doing okay, gear. (yes, i talk to my gear. sometimes.)
i tried on some hockey pants but they didn't have the size and model i was looking for. so instead of shopping around some more and driving to Oakland to go to Hockey X-Sport, i think i'll just order the CCm 652s or 852s online. any suggestions as to which model is better?
after my hockey adventures and what i'm sure what felt like an eternity to Tiffani, we headed over to Maido in Santana Row. we spent way too long in there, but i came out with some notebooks and a new orange rollerball pen. yay, now when i take notes on journal articles, it'll be Giants colors! hey, it's the simple pleasures that keep me going.
went to Valley Fair and walked around - nothing in particular i was looking for except for some cards and small gifty things, and i found those quite easily. we ventured into the Organized Living store for the first time and i am still perplexed. why did this store open when the Container Store is directly across the street?
the big find of the day was at Pottery Barn Kids. we took about 1 second to decide that we needed to purchase the table tennis set. 2 ping pong balls, a net which fits perfectly on top of our kitchen table, and 2 paddles. ages 6 and up...we qualify! we ended up playing for at least 3 hours once we got home...and now i can't wait to get home so we can play some more. it's very entertaining.
we finished up the day by going to Old Navy and then REI. Old Navy was actually NOT crazy busy, and i found some cute swim trunks and a little tanktop for Axel. hopefully i'll get to visit him some time this week. the REI visit was actually quite a momentous occasion for me. i've been refusing to use Nalgene bottles because it feels like everybody, i mean everybody has one. especially in santa cruz, and i just refused to give in to being another person in santa cruz with my Nalgene. but i realized a little while ago that the only person i was hurting by my semi-protest was, uh, me. so i got not one, but two Nalgene bottles. one teal colored (of course) bottle to take to work with me, and one squeeze bottle for hockey.
okay, incubation time is up...time to get back to lab work. and then go home and play ping pong!

Yo! The higher the number, the better the pant. If you can score 852's or higher, your parts will be more padded. My sporty red pants are pro return and I cannot begin to describe how much better they are than pants you'd buy off the street.
yeah, i was leaning towards the 852s, and even though i know my size because i have CCM (non-red) pants now, i do like to try them on for fit before i order. but i might just be adventurous and buck the trend.
good, because i like Organized Living more than the container store. for one, it doesn't smell like plastic. oh, and i like that they have more wicker baskets.
