my grand plan
i've had approximately 105 days to digest the GAB and plan out in my head what my hockey future will be. not like i've been counting or anything.
at least to me, this whole thing is mildly amusing. not the GAB, but my whole thought process. here i am thinking about when i can play hockey, if i can play hockey, etc. i'm actually somewhat mildly obsessed with it. but here's the kicker: it's not even like i'm really that good at playing hockey!
okay, but here's my master plan.
- March 8: go see doctor, hope he tells me i'm cleared to play. if not immediately,
that it would be okay if i went to play in Denver.
- start walking around the house in skates to get used to the feel again.
- go to some public skates
- skate in the NCWHL's spring/summer season, but in green instead of red. i don't
think it would be the best thing to launch right into more competitive games. if i
played a season in green, i'd be more comfortable moving back up (if i was able to)
after getting some skating in.
that's it. that's what i've come up with. i guess it all hinges on what i'm told on March 8. seriously, if he says i can't go to Denver, i'll cry.

If the Doc says you can't go and skate, it doesn't really mean you can't. Consider his opinion to be a suggestion. Of course, we've already talked about this. If you are forced into retirement at least you do so as a reigning MVP. A tragic tale of a career cut short by injury, you are just like Bobby Orr only smexxxahier.
Yo, another suggestion to add to your list: practice standing on one foot, see how long you can do it for. Requires no prep time (putting on skates, etc.) and I found my ability to do so is directly proportional to my crossover performance in that direction. :-) It involves all those little ankle stabilizer muscles that get stronger when you play hockey.
Check me out, I'm praying to Little Baby Jesus on your behalf:

thanks, Cap H! i've been doing that for rehab as suggested by my physical therapist...maybe she sensed my inherent lack of balance! hopefully crossovers will come...
oh, man, that Baby Jesus comment is still cracking me up. big time!
