whaaa happened?

to round out my movie watching for the week, i saw "Ray" on friday night with my folks in Monterey. wow, what a great performance by Jamie Foxx. made me want to listen to a lot of Ray Charles' music really soon. he was such a talented man and i'm glad that he was able to experience most of the movie before his death.

saturday was a matinee of "Million Dollar Baby". also a good flick, but even though my vote doesn't count, i vote "Ray" as best picture. MDB was good, and of course us locals gotta love Clint, who was awesome, but the overall story of "Ray" and the way it was told gets my vote. i'm not a huge Hilary Swank fan, but she gave a great performance in MDB.

went to a friend's house on my way home from Monterey on sunday to catch the super bowl. it's hard to imagine that i used to like football so much years ago. it doesn't really do much for me now, but i wanted to be social. so i went, made my "appearance", and was ready to leave when i was told it was almost time for dinner. d'oh. i didn't want to be rude and leave right before food was being served, so i stayed thru dinner. except it was ready about 45 minutes after i initially tried to depart. okay, no big deal. but then i couldn't eat and run, so i stayed longer. then it was dessert time. not gonna miss that. can't bail right after dessert, so i ended up staying the whole time (around 5 hours) and got home much later than i would have liked.

but it was okay. had fun seeing friends, still got good sleep. sort of.
