i love my computer...
...at home.
the one at work sucks. yes, it's an Apple, and i'm trying to be nice to it, but it sucks. it's a flat panel G4 that *must* be a lemon because so many people just love the Mac. i am not one of them. oh, wait, what i do love is how the programs on OSX quit on me for no reason at all and then a little window appears 30 seconds later telling me "the application ---blah--- has unexpectedly quit". gee, thanks, i had no idea.
so this thing is supposed to be a super duper fast computer with all these great features. i have yet to see one of them. it took me 5 tries downloading Firefox today and then 2 more times trying to install it. it takes forever to open a jpeg in photoshop, even when i close all other applications. the internet connection is slow (but only on my computer), it takes forever to wake up, it takes forever and a day to open a program, and forever and a year to save a friggin excel file.
oh, how i wish we just had tons of money and i could buy a pc and have everyone else in science use a pc.

poor little mac. maybe it needs more memory? or a user that's nicer to it and isn't grumpily pounding on its keys or impatiently cursing it when all its memory is tied up? =D
if it'll make you feel any better, the pc doesn't tell you that you're running outta memory either so stuff just doesn't work, but you can't tell why. webpages? not if you want to see anything other a 500 error. skipping itunes(?!). ghosting screens.

stooooopid mac. i'm pretty sure it needs more memory, but COME ON!!! (said like Gob on Arrested Development).
i am trying to learn to love the mac. if not love it, at least not hate it.
